Getting Here
By car, we’re right off Highway 7 and County Road 28, with plenty of parking. Coming from Peterborough, the drive is about 10 minutes – just west on Highway 7, left at County Road 28, and we’re there in a couple of minutes. Buses and coaches can pull in too; just let us know ahead by calling 705-939-2400. For transit riders, you can use Peterborough Transit and expect a 15-minute walk from the closest stop (always helps to check timing).
There are zones for drop-offs and spots close to the door for accessible parking. We try to make the walk in straightforward for everyone – flat pathways right up to the entrance.
Daily Schedule
Open 10:00 AM, close at midnight, no holidays off. We open the floor fully staffed and ready, every day alike. Last chance to enter is half an hour before closing – 11:30 PM pick-up, and then staff gives two reminders before shutting down at 11:30 and 11:45 so people don’t feel rushed at the end.
Snow or not, hours hold steady. When roads get rough in winter, a quick check for travel conditions helps. Our parking lot’s heated sections and covered walks make winter visits doable.
Peak times? End of the week, especially when races bring more folks for a full day out. Sometimes people play before heading to the track, sometimes after.
Food, Beverages, and Service
Hungry? There’s a dining area, menu’s casual but covers the basics, and it’s open during casino hours. Restrooms are dotted around the floor, all up to accessibility standards.
Player services takes care of ticket cash outs, questions, lost tickets, and malfunctions. Sometimes a machine gets fussy – just flag a staff member. Want directions or have a special request? The Peterborough spot opened not so long ago with broader gaming and all the table classics. That’s when our number of machines at Kawartha went from 500 down to around 150 (it’s since crept up), so now we focus squarely on slots and community. Cash Handling and Payment
Everything on the slot floor is cash-based. Canadian bills go right into machines, or you can grab cash from one of the ATMs. Credit and debit aren’t accepted for gaming, per Ontario’s rules.

Regulation and Oversight
We operate under the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. All play, money handling, and reporting happens according to provincial requirements. Great Canadian Entertainment manages day-to-day, but OLG holds the gaming license.
Our slot gaming happens within the “Optional Slots at Racetracks Program,” which started in 2019 and is due to wrap up March 31, 2026. The end date was set from launch, so nothing unexpected there.

What Happens After 2026

We currently have about 150 machines operating. After closure, players can keep playing and using loyalty rewards at the other Shorelines Casinos – Peterborough, Belleville, and Thousand Islands. Just take your points and card over – nothing’s lost.
Harness racing continues at our track, with a new season set to open up in June 2026. The racing side is independently run, separate from casino activity. If you want to come for a day at the races, the doors will still be open.
Staff affected by this transition can access transfer options to other Shorelines spots. Great Canadian Entertainment coordinates all job support for anyone impacted.
